Ms Rays, why do you make music?

Music has always been a therapy and a way to express who I am. It helped me get through difficult life moments giving me the possibility to escape from the problems and reality which were the cause of stress. I think music has such a big power and everyone should have the chance to learn it. It’s a medicine for your soul and body. That's also why I make music because I want to make people’s lives better throughout the language of music. 

The entertainment industry is particularly judgemental. How do you cope with this environment?

I stopped worrying about what people think and try to protect myself from toxic environments. It’s vital to identify our goals and pursue them despite all the obstacles we could meet during our path. I don’t know myself very well and I’ve been living in my brain for over 28 years. How can people that barely know us can judge? They’re not aware of our background, life, issues, etc. They don’t know us and we shouldn’t allow ourself to give importance to people's opinion. The society we live in is individualist and although it’s easier to talk behind, we should still focussed on us essentially. 

How did you like Düsseldorf? Have you been here before? How did you get in touch with the Lovebird Festival?

I love Dusseldorf. I’ve been performing in Dusseldorf three times and each one has been magical. I had the honour to perform at Lovebird festival this year and I want to thank Standlakt for the opportunity. It has been a real pleasure. 

What would you describe as milestones in your career?

Keep following my dreams and goals despite all the difficulties. 

Do you write your own songs?

Yes, I am a composer and I’m inspired by music in all its forms.

Do you work together with your brother Mik?

Yes, sometimes I work with my brother Mik! He’s a mentor.

You also work as a music teacher - how do you organise your working hours?

I have so many role models that I find difficult to pick one! My family supported me a lot during my music journey and probably they're the reason why I am a musician now.

I usually teach on Mondays and Tuesdays and I normally gig on the weekends.

When did you decide to become a musician?

It sounds a bit silly but I feel like I've always known I wanted to be a musician!
